❗ Issues
- Map selector screen was confusing, with buttons out of place
- Main menu screen was very minimal, designed to be placeholder
- Overall UI looked very out of date and empty
- Screen transitions were jarring and out of place
- Unable to display more than 5-6 maps in the map browser at once
- Lack of map previews or easily-accessible map information
- No implementation for user’s profile or profile statistics
✅ Solutions
- Designed a new map selector screen using research and feedback to solve user pain points
- Updated main menu screen to preview a random map from the user’s library in the background (optional setting)
- Designed a new UI palette inspired by other modern Source games (such as CS:GO)
- Using motion design, we created smooth fading screen transitions
- Updated the map selector focusing on a much larger map list to solve this issue
- Offered plenty of map information at-a-glance, such as completion status, difficulty, best time, and more
- Implemented “user cards” in the main menu’s HUD to show player stats
